1. About these terms
These terms apply when you visit or use the TapEP website operated by TAPEP LTD, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 17412644. Registered office: Flat 2, 36 Park Mansions Vivian Avenue, London, United Kingdom, NW4 3UU. Customer support: support@tapep.co.uk. By continuing to use the site, you agree to use it lawfully and in accordance with these terms. Nothing on this website removes or limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer law.
2. Current pilot status
TapEP is in development. The planned initial product is focused on verified participating merchants, digital Merchant Payment Requests, remote customer authorisation, merchant workflow controls, clearer payment status and safety-led payment journeys. Features, designs, integrations, commercial arrangements and launch plans may change as technical, security, privacy, regulatory and payment-partner requirements are validated.
The website must not be understood as confirmation that TapEP is currently authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, approved by a bank or card scheme, or available as a live payment service unless a future statement expressly says so and is factually correct at that time.
3. No live payment service through this website
This website is informational and supports pilot-interest registration. Test demonstrations or product descriptions do not create a real payment or live merchant settlement. The public website does not accept customer deposits, hold customer money or provide live payment execution. Payment functionality will remain restricted until the relevant production reviews and controls are complete.
For the planned initial UK pilot, TapEP is intended to operate as a SaaS technology provider and the participating merchant—not TapEP—is intended to remain the merchant of record. Each payment is intended to be created as a direct charge on that merchant’s Stripe connected account. The customer enters and authenticates their own payment details in Stripe-hosted or Stripe-provided components; neither TapEP nor the merchant keys in card details on the customer’s behalf. The merchant remains responsible for the sale, fulfilment, receipts, refunds and disputes. TapEP does not intend to receive or control merchant settlement proceeds, hold or pool customer funds, or create transfers to merchants. For the pilot, TapEP’s technology fee is 1% of each successfully completed TapEP-facilitated payment, intended to be collected from the merchant as an application fee; Stripe processing and other Stripe fees apply separately under the merchant’s Stripe arrangements. This structure remains subject to Stripe account review, specialist legal and regulatory review, security and privacy completion, and the applicable customer and merchant agreements.
4. Information, not financial advice
Content on this site describes TapEP's product direction and development work. It is general information only and is not financial, legal, investment or regulatory advice to visitors.
5. Acceptable use
You must not misuse the site, attempt to gain unauthorised access, interfere with its operation, introduce malicious code, scrape it in a way that causes unreasonable load, impersonate another person or use the site for unlawful or fraudulent purposes.
6. Early-access and business enquiries
If you submit an early-access or business-interest enquiry, please provide accurate information and do not include card numbers, bank passwords, security codes or other payment credentials. A submission does not create a customer account, guarantee access to a future service or form a payment-service contract.
7. Stripe Connect and participating merchants
Where a participating merchant is onboarded to Stripe Connect through TapEP, payment processing services are provided by Stripe and are subject to the applicable Stripe Connected Account Agreement, which incorporates the applicable Stripe Services Agreement. By agreeing to the applicable TapEP merchant terms or continuing to operate as a participating merchant using TapEP’s Stripe-enabled payment functionality, the merchant will be required to agree to the applicable Stripe terms and to provide accurate and complete information about its business. The merchant also authorises TapEP to share information with Stripe to the extent necessary to provide the Stripe-enabled payment services, subject to the applicable agreements and privacy notices.
Stripe is an independent payment-services provider. A reference to Stripe does not imply that Stripe endorses TapEP. The exact onboarding disclosures and acceptance mechanism will follow the Stripe Connect configuration used for production.
Merchant eligibility. Pilot access is limited to UK businesses selling lawful goods or services that are eligible under Stripe’s current Prohibited and Restricted Businesses rules. Prohibited categories are not eligible. A restricted category must not be activated unless Stripe confirms that the business and relevant Stripe service can be supported. TapEP may request supporting information and may refuse, suspend or remove access where eligibility cannot be confirmed.
Operational and balance responsibilities. The participating merchant remains responsible to its customer for the underlying sale, fulfilment, cancellation and refund decisions, and the accuracy of evidence supplied in response to a payment dispute. TapEP may provide technical tools that help the merchant perform those functions. Allocation of Stripe processing fees, dispute fees, application-fee reversals, negative balances and ultimate losses will follow the final production Stripe Connect configuration and the applicable merchant agreement. Describing a payment as a direct charge does not by itself determine every balance or liability responsibility.
8. Intellectual property
The TapEP name, branding, website content, product concepts, designs and other materials on this site may be protected by intellectual-property rights. You may view the site for personal or legitimate business evaluation, but you must not copy, reproduce or commercially exploit protected TapEP material except where the law allows it or you have written permission.
9. Third-party services and links
The site may refer to third-party providers, payment infrastructure or external websites. Those providers operate under their own terms and privacy arrangements. A reference does not mean that a third party has approved or endorsed TapEP unless expressly stated.
10. Availability and accuracy
We aim to keep the website available and its information accurate. Pilot scope, integrations and product features may be updated as technical, commercial and regulatory requirements are completed, and not every explored concept will become a production feature.
11. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability where doing so would be unlawful, including liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Subject to those mandatory protections, TapEP is not responsible for losses caused solely by treating pilot or development information as confirmation that a payment capability is already available.
12. Privacy
Personal information submitted through this website is handled as described in the TapEP Privacy Notice. Do not send payment credentials through website enquiry forms.
13. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the project develops. The date at the top will show the latest revision. Before any live customer or merchant payment service launches, TapEP will need separate service-specific contractual terms appropriate to the final regulated model.
14. Governing law
These website terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory rights that apply to you under the law of your place of residence.
